Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Rahi Kalaf Mahdi Al-Yasiri, President of Al-Qadisiyah University, and the supervision of Professor Dr. Munir Abdul-Amir Abdul-Fattlawi, Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, the College of Veterinary Medicine, under the slogan “Entrepreneurship Initiative,” held the Iraqi National Entrepreneurship Day Festival on March 4, 2026, focusing on entrepreneurship and the Iraqi Shield Award for Entrepreneurship and Excellence. The festival opened with a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah in remembrance of the martyrs, and then the playing of the national anthem.
The Dean of the College delivered an opening address, stating that celebrating Entrepreneurship Day is a national and patriotic concern. He emphasized that entrepreneurship, in its essence and with its various components, is a testament to the efforts of the ancient Iraqis who founded and built civilizations that still stand proudly today. He added that the concept of entrepreneurship encompasses production, innovation, and development.
The festival included three main components: a training workshop titled “Innovative Projects in Poultry Breeding and Production: From Idea to Market,” presented by Dr. Karrar Al-Kaabi from Zahour Al-Watan Company. The workshop showcased innovative projects and mechanisms for transforming ideas into action plans, leading to marketing and achieving economic viability.
Another training workshop focused on the pioneering role of veterinarians in promoting animal health and food security. Presented by Dr. Yousef Al-Khafaji, this workshop aimed to highlight that veterinarians’ roles extend beyond diagnosis and treatment to include managing production projects, developing modern technologies, contributing to agricultural innovation, and supporting the national economy through sustainable projects that help reduce [unspecified costs/efficiencies]. Importing and increasing livestock production: With knowledge and experience, veterinarians can be leaders in achieving food security and building a healthy future and a strong economy.
The festival also included an exhibition of scientific and marketing products and projects from a number of companies, such as Zahoor Al Watan Company, in addition to private clinics and the Zoo Hospital in Diwaniyah
