The British Times Higher Education organization announced the results of its World University Rankings by Subject 2026, one of the most prominent international rankings that measures university performance in teaching, research, international engagement, and knowledge transfer.

Al-Qadisiyah University achieved a distinguished presence by entering the global rankings in three academic fields for 2026, an accomplishment that reflects the growing development in its academic and research performance and confirms its advanced standing on the international university scene. The ranked fields are:

♦️Engineering (ranked 1001–1250).

♦️Life Sciences (ranked 1001+), including Veterinary Medicine, Agricultural Sciences, and Biological Sciences.

♦️Physical Sciences (ranked 801–1000), including Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Environmental Science, and Geology.

This achievement is a qualitative indicator that distinguishes Al-Qadisiyah University from its local counterparts, confirming the continuous improvement in the quality of higher education, the level of scientific research, and the academic environment that supports creativity and innovation.

In this context, Professor Abbas Sabbar, Head of the Advisory Committee for Scientific Research and International Rankings, explained that the Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject 2026 is based on 18 performance indicators distributed across five main pillars: quality of education (approximately 29.5%), research environment (approximately 29%), quality of research, impact, and citations (approximately 30%), international outlook (approximately 7.5%), and industry income and knowledge transfer (approximately 4%). Minor adjustments were made to the weights according to the nature of each discipline to ensure the accuracy and objectivity of the evaluation.

This achievement strengthens Al-Qadisiyah University’s position on the global map of ranked universities in specific disciplines, opens broader horizons for students and researchers, and embodies the university’s commitment to developing its academic and research system according to internationally recognized standards. This progress also contributes to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), aligning with the university’s vision of enhancing the quality of higher education and serving the community.
