The College of Education at Al-Qadisiyah University inaugurated the Sustainable Development Week, which was organized in Sheikh Al-Waili Hall, in the presence of the Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Sattar Abdul Hassan Al-Fatlawi, the Dean of the College of Education, his scientific and administrative assistants, heads of departments, teaching and functional staff, and college students.
The Sustainable Development Week aims to discuss the challenges facing Iraq in achieving the goals of sustainable development, and to exchange experiences and ideas between researchers and specialists in order to implement the seventeen sustainability goals.
The opening topics included a speech by the Dean of the College and a joint lecture by the University’s Sustainable Development Officer, Professor Dr. Mai Jalil, with the Green Education Unit Officer, Dr. Raad Farhan Al-Jubouri, where the session was moderated by the Head of the Department of Quranic Sciences, Assistant Professor Dr. Haider Jabbar Daftar Al-Rafii.
The lecture included an introduction to sustainable development, its goals, concepts, dimensions, environmental sustainability, and the proposed and future vision for achieving sustainable development based on available capabilities, in addition to a detailed explanation of the seventeen goals. The opening also included the participation of the Student Activities Department in an exhibition of photographs and scientific and artistic drawings by the college students, supervised by Professor Dr. Ali Ahmed Al-Awadi, and concluded with honoring him and the lecturers.
