The President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Rahi Kalaf Mahdi Al-Yasiri, participated in the specialized scientific conference on interventional radiology organized by the Diwaniyah Medical Association. Also in attendance were the Director General of the Diwaniyah Health Department, Dr. Muhannad Al-Mayali, the Assistant President of the University for Administrative Affairs, Professor Dr. Muhammad Hamza Al-Hashimi, and the Dean of the College of Medicine, Professor Dr. Aqeel Rahim Al-Barqawi. Specialists from the Diwaniyah Center for Cardiac Catheterization, Interventional Radiology, Peripheral Catheterization, and Vascular Surgery contributed to organizing the conference and addressing its topics.
The conference, titled:
(Interventional Radiology, Peripheral Catheterization, and Catheter-Based Tumor Treatment Conference), hosted the most prominent figure in the Iraqi medical scene, Professor Dr. Abdul Amir Mohsen Al-Shammari, a specialist in thoracic, cardiac, and vascular surgery and peripheral catheterization, a professor at the College of Medicine, University of Baghdad, President of the Iraqi Board of Thoracic, Cardiac, and Vascular Surgery, President of the Arab Board of Vascular Surgery and Peripheral Catheterization, and former President of the Iraqi Medical Association.
The conference opened with the national anthem and a recitation of Al-Fatiha in remembrance of the martyrs of Iraq, the martyrs of medicine, and healthcare personnel. The opening address was delivered by the Director General of Health, followed by a speech from the President of the Diwaniyah Medical Association, Dr. Nada Al-Waeli.
The scientific topics included:
The first topic: Vascular and non-vascular interventional radiology and their clinical indications, presented by Dr. Diaa Al-Hamzawi, a faculty member at the College of Medicine. Dr. Diaa Al-Hamzawi, specializing in interventional radiology from the UK, opened the first interventional radiology and peripheral catheterization unit at the Cardiac Catheterization Center in Diwaniyah.
– Second session: Treatment of vascular diseases with catheterization, modern techniques, and examples from the operating room, presented by Professor Dr. Abdul-Amir Mohsen Al-Shammari.
– Third session: The role of nuclear medicine in guiding interventional treatments, presented by Dr. Ahmed Ali Al-Ansari, specializing in nuclear medicine and endocrinology from the UK and the first consultant in nuclear medicine in Diwaniyah.
– Fourth session: Treatment of congenital cardiac and aortic malformations with catheterization, presented by Dr. Mohammed Farid Al-Ghannam.
– Fifth session: An introduction to Al-Sar Scientific Office – agents for Medtronic USA, presented by Engineer Mustafa Al-Dafai.
The conference concluded with the reading of recommendations and the honoring of participating and distinguished individuals.
