The Chemical Engineering Department at the College of Engineering, Al-Qadisiyah University, organized a specialized training course entitled “Basic Safety Rules and Handling Safe Chemical Materials” in the Continuing Education Unit Hall at the college. The course was presented by Assistant Lecturers Zahraa Alaa Hawas and Zahraa Mohsen Ghafel.
The course aimed to enhance awareness of the necessary occupational and environmental safety rules and procedures when handling various chemical materials, whether in academic laboratories or industrial facilities.
The course topics included a discussion of the fundamentals of classifying hazardous chemicals, how to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), and how to understand safety data sheets (SDS). It also reviewed the correct procedures for handling chemical spills and extinguishing chemical fires.
