Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Science at Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Salwan Ali Al-Hamzawi, the Department of Environment at the College of Science organized a field trip for fourth-year students to the Babylon archaeological site. This trip was part of the requirements for the Environmental Information Systems and Remote Sensing course, and was supervised by Assistant Lecturers Aqeel Thamer and Zeina Abdul-Kadhim.
The visit aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical study and practical application, and to provide students with the opportunity to learn about environmental impact assessment mechanisms at historical sites. This involved studying environmental conditions, monitoring the effects of human activities, and analyzing sustainability indicators using remote sensing techniques. Students also received training in collecting field data, recording observations, and identifying site characteristics based on satellite imagery.
