Under the patronage of the President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Rahi Kalaf Mahdi Al-Yasiri, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education for Women, Professor Dr. Mai Ali Aziz, the College of Education for Women, in cooperation with Al-Qabas Foundation for Culture and Development, held a symposium entitled:
(Fatima al-Zahra (peace be upon her): The Divine Model for Women Between Religious Discourse and Contemporary Feminist Thought). The symposium was presented by the Husseini orator, His Eminence Sheikh Zaman Al-Hasnawi, in the Great Nippur Hall. Attendees included the Assistant President of the University for Administrative Affairs, Professor Dr. Muhammad Hamza Al-Hashemi, the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Mai Ali Aziz, and a number of officials from governmental and religious institutions, as well as professors and students.
The symposium addressed the position of Lady Fatima al-Zahra (peace be upon her) in Islamic thought in comparison with modern currents of contemporary feminism, and outlined the features of the complete model for women in their relationship with men, authority, and the changing times. The seminar aimed to promote the morals of the Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them) and the Islamic spirit, and to strengthen religious culture among students, as well as to draw lessons and inspiration in refining national identity, modesty, and chastity, which are among the most important characteristics of women in Arab and Islamic thought.
