As part of the program to develop the skills of postgraduate students in the research phase, the College of Law organized a specialized scientific workshop entitled “Critical Legal Thinking in Research Preparation.” The workshop was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Safaa Mutab Fajja and moderated by Lecturer Dr. Ali Hamza Jabr.
The workshop primarily aimed to enhance critical thinking skills and develop postgraduate students’ ability to apply the critical analytical method in studying legal texts and phenomena, and to conduct objective analysis and evaluation. This training aimed to equip researchers to analyze and evaluate existing or proposed legal rules.
The workshop concluded that critical thinking is key to success. The success of sound legal research depends largely on the researcher’s ability to conduct in-depth critical analysis, rather than mere description or rote learning. Furthermore, it requires the researcher’s ability to critically analyze legal texts and rules using a variety of references.
The workshop recommended that criticism in legal studies be constructive and objective, targeting legislative or judicial shortcomings. It also emphasized the importance of supporting legal research with factual, jurisprudential, and judicial evidence to strengthen its probative force, and the necessity of exerting effort… Researchers’ efforts in analyzing legal rules and elucidating the legislator’s intent in enacting them
