The College of Science seeks to promote the concept of sustainable transportation and reduce carbon emissions on campus, in line with sustainable development goals and creating a healthy and clean environment for students and staff.
In this context, the college has adopted a Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) policy by equipping two electric vehicles for use on campus. The college employs approximately 3,700 employees, making the ratio of electric vehicles to total workforce approximately one vehicle for every 1,350 employees.
The number of fuel-powered vehicles has reached approximately 750, including cars and motorcycles. To encourage the use of environmentally friendly transportation, the college has allocated approximately 1,500 square meters of bicycle parking space, while parking spaces represent approximately 1.1% of the total campus area.
To improve the internal transportation system, the college has provided a shuttle service using electric vehicles (ZEVs) to transport students and staff within short distances within campus, in addition to utilizing the university’s public transportation system.
The college has also focused on providing a safe environment for pedestrians by providing covered and illuminated walkways and sidewalks, which contributes to encouraging walking and reducing reliance on vehicles. To enhance traffic safety and regulate traffic, a network of internal streets has been established, equipped with traffic signs and appropriate lighting to ensure smooth traffic flow within the campus and promote a culture of sustainable and safe transportation.
