The College of Archaeology at Al-Qadisiyah University organized a specialized training course entitled “Manuscripts between the two journeys of production and verification,” presented by Prof. Dr. Shaima Jassim Al-Badri, Asst. Prof. Dr. Batahj Sama Ali, and Dr. Manaf Latif Al-Tamimi
The course aimed to develop the participants’ skills in studying, verifying, and preserving heritage manuscripts from various scientific and artistic perspectives. The lecturers presented a range of scientific topics that addressed the origins and development of Arabic and Islamic manuscripts, methods of studying and verifying them according to modern academic curricula, as well as analyzing the material components and color layers used in their writing and decoration, and methods of preserving and restoring them.
The course witnessed a remarkable interaction from the participants, due to its scientific presentation, which combined theoretical and practical aspects. This contributed to enriching knowledge of the importance of manuscripts as one of the most important sources of human heritage and areas of contemporary academic research.
This course is part of the College of Archaeology’s ongoing scientific activities aimed at developing the capabilities of researchers and students, strengthening the college’s role in preserving Iraqi cultural heritage, and spreading awareness of the importance of studying it according to scientific principles.
