Under the patronage and attendance of the President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Rahi Kallaf Mahdi Al-Yasiri, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Arts, Professor Dr. Nabil Imran Musa Al-Khalidi.
The Department of English Language at the College of Arts at Al-Qadisiyah University, in cooperation with the Al-Zakawat Foundation for Culture, Thought, and Arts and the Tasnim International Journal of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Law in Lebanon, held the first international scientific conference entitled “Visions in Language, Literature, and Teaching Methods in a Sustainable World: New Scientific Perspectives on a Green World and Linking Sustainable Development to the English Language.”
The opening ceremony, attended by the Assistant President for Academic Affairs, Professor Dr. Sattar Abdul-Hassan Al-Fatlawi, and a group of deans, researchers, and professors, included the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran and the recitation of Surat Al-Fatihah for the souls of the martyrs of Iraq, followed by the national anthem. Then came a speech by the Dean of the College of Arts, Professor Dr. Nabil Omran Musa Al-Khalidi, the conference chair. This was followed by a speech by the Head of the English Department, Professor Dr. Mai Ali Abdul Amir. This was followed by a speech by Professor Dr. Wissam Ahmed Al-Mutairi, head of the conference preparatory committee. A documentary film about the College of Arts documenting its urban renaissance was screened. The opening session was moderated by Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Saad Aziz from the English Department, with lecturers including Professor Dr. Basem Nashmi Jaloud, who gave a lecture entitled “Environmental Aesthetics,” and Professor Dr. Hadeel Aziz Mohammed Reda, who gave a lecture entitled “Socio-Economic Struggles and Interpersonal Dynamics: The Fractured Togetherness in Lynn Nottage’s Sweat.” The conference included several themes, including ecolinguistics, ecocriticism, English language teaching methods and ecology, sustainable development, science, and the humanities for achieving sustainable development. The conference also hosted (127) research papers from several countries, including Lebanon, Nigeria, Algeria, Turkey, Morocco, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Sultanate of Oman, and Iraq.
The opening ceremony also included honoring the University President, the Dean of the College, and a group of distinguished researchers, supporters, and supporters.
