Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Rahi Kalf Mahdi Al-Yasiri, President of Al-Qadisiyah University, and the supervision of Professor Dr. Hayawi Wiwa Attia Al-Jawdhari, Dean of the College of Agriculture,
the first annual festival for sustainable development and green education kicked off in the presence of the Scientific Assistant Professor Dr. Sattar Abdul-Hassan Al-Fatlawi, Ms. Sundus Al-Mousawi, Chair of the Health and Environment Committee in the Diwaniyah Provincial Council, and a group of officials from official institutions, professors, and employees.
The opening ceremony began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by the national anthem and the recitation of Surat Al-Fatihah for the souls of our righteous martyrs.
Then, the banner of mourning was raised, marking the beginning of the month of mourning and the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, his family, and his companions, peace be upon them.
The Dean of the College then delivered a speech in which he offered his condolences on the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him). He explained the festival’s objectives, noting their importance in promoting a culture of sustainable agriculture, encouraging research innovations in the agricultural field, and enhancing cooperation between the university, government institutions, and the private sector to support the green economy and serve the community.
The festival’s activities also included the inauguration of several vital facilities that contribute to consolidating the goals of sustainable development and green education at the college. A number of attendees were then honored
