Under the patronage of the President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Rahi Kalf Mahdi Al-Yasiri, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Law, Professor Dr. Nizam Jabbar Talib, the Sustainable Development Unit at the College of Law at Al-Qadisiyah University held a scientific symposium entitled “The Role of Justice and Peace in Achieving Sustainable Development” as part of the activities of the first annual festival for sustainable development and green education. The symposium was presented by Asst. Dr. Laila Hamza Radhi, Asst. M. Rasul Majid Kazim, Asst. M. Zahraa Mohammed Hadi, and Asst. M. Nour Sami Dakhel
The symposium aimed to address the global nature of sustainable development goals, taking into account social, economic, political, and environmental dimensions. Establishing peaceful and just societies is essential to achieving the sustainable development goals. Therefore, governments, civil society, and local communities must work together to provide lasting solutions to combat violence, achieve justice, reduce corruption, ensure inclusive participation, and guarantee freedom of expression and the ability of people to participate in decision-making that affects their livelihoods.
Key Recommendations: Achieving sustainable development requires joint efforts and international cooperation to overcome environmental, social, and economic challenges, promote social justice, and achieve equality. This represents the path to a sustainable and prosperous future for all. It also requires strengthening community bonds and supporting them economically, providing job opportunities, reducing class differences, providing health insurance, and focusing on education to raise community awareness of the need to conserve environmental resources for a better future
