Under the patronage of the President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Kazem Jabr Al-Jubouri, and under the supervision of his scientific assistant, the Sustainable Development Unit, after sending an invitation to the Diwaniyah Environment Directorate, organized a field tour to measure greenhouse gases (Ghg) on the university campus.
The Sustainable Development Unit official, Prof. Dr. Mai Jalil Abd, and the Classifications Unit official, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Abbas, participated in the tour, accompanied by the Diwaniyah Environment Team.
Greenhouse gases (GHG) are harmful gases that are characterized by their ability to absorb infrared rays that reach the Earth and re-emit them into the atmosphere, causing temperatures to rise and not being lost to space.
The results of the measurements showed a “significant” decrease in these gases compared to previous years. The reason is due to the increase in green areas up to (5,000) square meters and the uprooting of about (200) Carp trees that are harmful to the environment and replacing them with eucalyptus, acacia, tamarisk, and willow trees that produce oxygen.
