The Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Law at Al-Qadisiyah University held a scientific workshop titled (The Image of Iraqi Women in the Media: Challenges and Protection), presented by Assist. Prof. Dr. Sundus Mohammed Abbas.
The workshop aimed to review the challenges facing the image of women in Iraqi media and discuss legal and social protection measures to ensure fair and balanced media representation, while raising awareness of the importance of their role in building society.
The workshop concluded that improving the image of women in Iraqi media requires enhancing legal legislations and developing media policies that support positive representation, alongside raising societal awareness to combat negative stereotypes and ensure the protection of their rights.
The workshop recommended the necessity of enacting stringent legal legislations to protect the image of women in Iraqi media, training media professionals to provide content that reflects their positive roles, and encouraging community initiatives to enhance awareness and combat discrimination and negative stereotypes.
