The Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Engineering at Al-Qadisiyah University organized the Iraqi Women’s Festival under the slogan (Iraqi Creativity: Challenges and Successes) on the occasion of Iraqi Women’s Day in the central hall of the college, attended by the festival’s guests, the college’s scientific and administrative deputies, department heads, teaching and administrative staff, and students of the college.

The festival opened with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran and the listening to the national anthem of Iraq, followed by the reading of Al-Fatiha for the souls of Iraq’s martyrs. Representing the Dean of the college, the scientific deputy, Assistant Professor Dr. Haitham Ali Badi, stated in his speech, “We recall on this anniversary of Women’s Day the significant stances of this great figure who has shaped life throughout history and laid the foundation of Iraqi civilization. Our forefathers immortalized her in their epics and stories and adorned the walls of their kingdoms with her imagery, granting her the highest status in their achievements. Their legacies are a testament to the understanding of the importance of this generous edifice. The statues of (Shibad) and (the Sumerian Woman) are signals that have reached us, illuminating our future with the beauty of the past, in which the Iraqi woman played prominent roles in managing the highest state functions with wisdom and firmness, founding a civil state that has remained a beacon of light for the world.”

The festival also included a speech from the head of the Women’s Affairs Unit, M.M. Israa Riad Al-Ghura, as well as poetry readings, screening of videos, and the presentation of awards and certificates of appreciation to a group of distinguished individuals from the college.
