Under the patronage of the President of Al-Qadisiyah University, Professor Dr. Rahi Kalaf Mahdi Al-Yasiri, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Assistant Professor Dr. Asaad Hassan Al-Zaidy, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Pharmacy organized a scientific seminar entitled “Combating Violence Against Women and Its Social and Psychological Effects.” The seminar was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Sahar Abdul-Ilah and moderated by Assistant Professor Dr. Awliya Jabbar Al-Hilali.
The seminar highlighted the concept of violence in general and the concept of violence against women in particular. It also addressed the types of violence, including physical, sexual, psychological, and economic violence. Furthermore, it discussed the consequences of violence against women, which include psychological effects (mental disorders, low self-esteem) and social effects (social isolation, family disintegration).
